If your bloodwork says everything's normal but you know something's off, there are more places to look.

You feel exhausted, your weight is shifting, your sleep is off, your digestion is unpredictable, and you’ve been told everything looks normal. This is a common experience. Standard bloodwork checks a defined set of markers, and some patterns fall outside it.

Comprehensive lab testing measures full systems instead of single markers, looks at patterns over time, and interprets results in the context of your symptoms.

A basic hormone panel may test only one or two markers. Our testing can include: thyroid (TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, antibodies), reproductive hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA), adrenal function, and cortisol patterns across the day. For complex hormonal presentations — perimenopause, PCOS, fertility, persistent fatigue — we use the DUTCH test, a urine-based panel that gives a more complete picture of how your body is producing, using, and metabolizing hormones.

Commonly used for:

  • Perimenopause and menopause
  • PCOS
  • Thyroid disorders including Hashimoto’s
  • Fertility
  • Hormonal contributors to mood and weight
  • Adrenal dysfunction

Food sensitivities aren’t the same as food allergies. Allergies can cause immediate, sometimes severe reactions. Other food-related symptoms may appear hours or days after eating and can include bloating, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, or headaches.

Blood-based IgG panels measure antibodies to foods, but they do not reliably show which foods are causing symptoms or need to be avoided. We’ll look at your symptoms, health history, and eating patterns before discussing suitable testing or dietary changes.

Commonly used for:

  • Digestive issues and IBS
  • Eczema and skin conditions
  • Brain fog and fatigue
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Headaches with no clear trigger

For patients dealing with seasonal symptoms, chronic congestion, sinus issues, asthma flares, or skin reactions, environmental allergy testing identifies what your body is reacting to in the air around you — pollens, moulds, dust, animal dander, and more.

We offer in-clinic scratch testing for immediate, visual results, as well as blood-based panels for patients already on antihistamines or who prefer not to do scratch testing.

Commonly used for:

  • Seasonal allergies
  • Asthma
  • Chronic congestion and sinus issues
  • Hives and eczema
  • Persistent respiratory symptoms

Comprehensive stool testing is one of the most useful tools for getting to the bottom of digestive issues. It assesses gut bacteria balance, identifies parasites and pathogens, measures inflammation and digestive function, and reveals patterns that explain symptoms standard testing misses.

Commonly used for:

  • IBS
  • Crohn’s disease and colitis
  • Chronic bloating
  • Food sensitivities
  • Leaky gut
  • Fatigue connected to gut health
  • Immune issues

Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a common but often missed cause of bloating, IBS, and digestive distress. SIBO testing uses a breath sample to measure the gases produced by bacteria in the small intestine — pinpointing whether overgrowth is happening, and what type.

Commonly used for:

  • Persistent bloating
  • IBS that hasn’t responded to other treatment
  • Gas and discomfort after meals
  • Post-antibiotic digestive issues

Heavy metal exposure — to mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminum, and others — can drive chronic inflammation, fatigue, neurological symptoms, and immune dysfunction. We use urine toxic metal testing to assess your body’s burden, often in combination with chelation therapy where treatment is appropriate.

Commonly used for:

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Brain fog and cognitive issues
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Unexplained neurological symptoms
  • Occupational exposure histories

For complex or unusual presentations, we use a range of specialty tests including:

  • Organic Acid Test — assesses metabolic function, nutritional status, and gut microbial activity
  • Mycotoxin Testing — identifies exposure to mold-related toxins
  • Lyme Disease and Co-infection Testing (Armin Labs) — comprehensive testing for tick-borne infections
  • Hair Mineral Analysis — looks at long-term mineral balance and toxic element exposure
  • Genetic Testing — for patients investigating MTHFR and other metabolic variants

How testing works.

Testing is always paired with a consultation. Results on their own don’t fix anything — what matters is what we do with them. After testing, we’ll review the results with you in detail, explain what they mean in the context of your symptoms and history, and build a treatment plan that addresses what we’ve found.

Most testing can be ordered at your initial visit or at a follow-up. Pricing varies by test — see our pricing page for current fees.

Where your care begins.

Most patients arrive at our door with something unresolved. Sometimes it's been years, sometimes it's brand new. Whatever you're working with, we're here to help.

When you book with us, we'll talk through what's been going on, what you've tried, and what you're hoping for. From there, we'll build the right plan together — whether that's care I continue with you, or care coordinated with another practitioner on our team.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Naturopathic doctors are licensed primary care physicians in BC and can order testing directly. You don’t need a referral from your MD to access any of the testing we offer.

Pricing varies depending on the panel. Some tests are in the $35–$165 range (urinalysis, in-clinic scratch testing). Larger comprehensive panels (DUTCH, stool analysis, mycotoxin testing) range from $300 to $535. See our pricing page for current fees on every test we offer.

The naturopathic consultation is covered by most extended health plans in BC. Lab testing itself varies — some specialty panels (like DUTCH or food sensitivity testing) are not typically covered, while standard bloodwork through LifeLabs may be partially covered or covered through MSP. We’ll walk you through what to expect cost-wise before any testing is ordered.

Most blood tests come back within a few days. Saliva and urine tests (including DUTCH) take 2–3 weeks. Stool testing typically takes 2–3 weeks. Armin Labs and specialty panels can take 3–4 weeks. We’ll book your follow-up appointment once results are in.

Yes. Every test is paired with a follow-up consultation where we walk you through your results in detail — what each marker means, how they connect to your symptoms, and what your treatment plan looks like from here. You won’t be handed a report and left to figure it out.

We require an initial visit before ordering testing for most patients. This isn’t about gatekeeping — it’s because ordering the right test depends on understanding what you’re actually working with. Without that context, you risk paying for a test that doesn’t give you the answers you’re looking for.

Some tests require specific preparation — fasting, holding certain supplements, or timing the test to a specific point in your cycle. Your practitioner will give you exact instructions before any test is ordered.
